Jordy Licious

Jordy Lishious (real name Jordy van Oostveen) was fascinated by music from a very young age, the sensitive youngster keenly aware how music affects moods. A healthy addiction to vinyl followed throughout his teenage years, stimulated further by a stint at Freaky Records in Eindhoven, getting access to all the upfront promos and white labels. His time behind the counter also led him to cross paths with Boy Lamoen, who went on to be Jordy’s production partner at the start of his recording career.

Scarcely old enough to be let into nightclubs, he commenced work in some local clubs, gaining valuable deck time and experience. He then scored a residency in one of Holland’s biggest clubs, The Matrixx in Nijmegen. This was a real step up, giving Jordy the chance to play to larger crowds and develop his own sound. When really pushed to term his music, Jordy describes it as "Dope & Dirty", but a quick listen to his sets will tell you that he plays right across the board, from house to tech-house and through to minimal-influenced material.

After many years of music collecting and spinning, May 2006 was the time that Jordy felt it right to step up into the industry as a full time professional. His debut production "Raw / Slick!" was snapped up by the Big and Dirty Label, peaking at number 3 in the official Dance Chart in Holland. With support right across the board from the DJs that matter (including Benjamin Bates, Steve Angello, Erick Morillo, Marco V, Dave Spoon, Lewis Dene, Martijn Ten Velden, Tom Novy, Erick E), it was also licensed to global superbrand Ministry Of Sound.

Jordy again showed production prowess on track called "Ooh La Lishious" under the guise of JayMen, which reached number 18 in the official Dutch Top 40. The record was licensed to more than 12 labels around the globe.

These club hits inevitably caused demand for remix work to soar, with well-received reinterpretations of tracks by DJ Antoine and S.T.F.U. making waves, a hot remix of Don Diablo’s "Stand Up" and also Benjamin Bates’ official Dance 4 Life 2008 single "On My Feet" rocking floors worldwide. Jordy also had the privilege of remixing Dance Nation´s track "Sunshine 2008" on Tiesto’s In Trance We Trust label. Jordy also found time to turn in a stunning remix of one of the bombs of the year, DJ Roog’s "Your Love", which enjoyed full support by all the key spinners, including Roger Sanchez.

Back to original productions, the follow up release "Raw / Slick!" surfaced on Big & Dirty Recordings in April 2008, with the curiously titled "Fugazy / Looby" garnering widespread support from the DJs that matter. Currently Jordy is locked down in the studio producing new tracks, so watch this space for new material imminently.

As a DJ, Jordy has played the length and breadth of the Netherlands, headlining all the top clubs and consistently rocking sell out clubs with his unique brand of Dope & Dirty music. His interaction with the audience and technical skills on the decks has also led to headline bookings at major festivals including Extrema’s Solar Festival, Fabulous, Emporium Festival and FreshGrooves Outdoor. Marco V requested Jordy accompany him on his Combi:Nations II tour in Holland in 2006.

International gigs quickly followed, with a number of gigs in Norway (Oslo, Haugesund, Stavanger) and the UK (at the legendary The Honeyclub in Brighton).

November 2008 shows Jordy Lishious’ venturing into new territories. He has landed his own fortnightly radio show entitled "Dope & Dirty", broadcast via Dance-Tunes.com. "Dope & Dirty" is also the name of Jordy’s club-night and bi-monthly promo mixes series, but now this bi-weekly radio show will contain one hour of the hottest Dope house and Dirty tech-house tracks, and also live sets from Jordy´s busy club schedule. Simply hit up www.Dance-Tunes.com and hit the podcast button, or you can subscribe to the Dope & Dirty Podcast in iTunes and get the show automatically on Tuesdays. The debut show hits the air on 18 November.
